3 Stacks Pottery

About Me

Welcome!

If I had to describe what I do with clay, I’d say:

Handmade functional pottery exploring texture with a central coast vibe.

I have always been enchanted by the ocean and love the sculptural quality of the stacks next to the rock on Morro Bay. I’m inspired daily by this vignette on my dog walks here in Los Osos, California and incorporate it in much of my making. My pots portray the scene with some interpretive whimsy, and I hope you enjoy them.

I’m an educator by former profession, but I have always been a maker at heart! I am particularly enchanted by functional art and design. Whether it be a quilt, a mug, a bowl or even a door, I love the idea of making something that is used regularly, that serves an important purpose in someone’s daily routines. Pottery is functional art.

By potter standards, I’m just a baby, in that I only started working with clay in 2021 with Jim and Sandy Gregory and my dear friend Tracy, of Mud Barn Pottery. At the end of 2021, I acquired Thelma, my kiln and in that time I’ve evolved my garage space into my pottery studio. I feel incredibly fortunate to have “a room of one’s own” as Virginia Woolf so aptly put it.

Thank you for visiting my site! If you'd like to visit my studio in Los Osos, reach out to set up an appointment or ask to be added to my email list about upcoming events. 3stackspottery@gmail.com
